In 2024, Malanda State School has one HPE specialist: Ally Landsberg (Tuesday – Friday).
Inter-school Sport:
Malanda State School participates in Inter-school Sport such as Cross Country, Athletics, Gala Day's and Friday afternoon sport.
- Only students who are meeting or exceeding our student learning, behaviour and attendance expectations will be eligible to participate.
District and Regional School Sport:
Representative School Sport is a program of sporting competitions (including trials and championships) run across a network of affiliated state and non-state schools. The Tablelands School Sport program provides sporting opportunities for students aged 10 – 19 years. Students can nominate to trial to compete in representative school sport activities in our Tablelands School Sport District.
At Malanda State School, the process for district sport and nominations is as follows:
1. Students are notified of all sporting trials via parade announcements, checking the sports noticeboard and accessing the Tablelands District School Sport 2024 School Calendar on the school website.
2. Students can express their interest by seeing Mrs Landsberg.
3. Mrs Landsberg will let the student know if they are eligible to participate and if so, provide them with the required paperwork - District Cover Letter (for nominated sport), Tablelands Availability for Selection Contract and Peninsula Student Permissions Booklet for completion.
- Only students who are meeting or exceeding our student learning, behaviour and attendance expectations will be eligible to attend the trials.
4. Parents are required to complete and sign all of the paperwork and return to the office by the due date for Principal approval.
- Principal approval will only be given to those students who are meeting or exceeding student learning, behaviour and attendance expectations.
5. HPE Teacher will ensure completed paperwork is at the district trials or give the fully completed paperwork to the student to take with them to the trials.
- Please note: district trials staff will not accept paperwork if it is not signed by the Principal.
