Homework

Homework, when applied strategically, has a high effect size (student academic growth). A balanced approach to homework plays an important role in a child’s education. At Malanda State School, we promote homework as not only an opportunity for students to develop self-discipline and independence, but also for parents to see and share their children’s education.

If you have any questions or concerns about your child's homework, please contact the classroom teacher. As always, it is by teachers, parents and the community members working together that we can help our students succeed.

Sound Waves Online

The Sound Waves phonemic approach uses a sound-to-letter strategy which acknowledges that sounds can be represented more than one way in written form. This synthetic phonics approach focuses first on the basic units of sound in our language – phonemes. It then explores the letters that represent these sounds and how they can be put together to form written words.

Sound Waves online for kids allows our students to access their list words, the sound boxes and many games at home.
